I miss the excitment of halloween that came with being a child. As an adult, it's not quite as much fun, and i'd just feel silly dressing up in a costume. I have to work tomorrow, and I think I'm going to dress up as a nurse....I do have these awesome scrubs with ghosts that i painted with glow in the dark paint....not that it's that cool during the day time. My other idea was that I'd dress up like William....but i think his shoes that are twice the size of mine would create more hazard than it's worth. Hmmm...I do have a hard hat and a tool belt, and that would be great for holding needles, pens, etc.

I'm glad it's Monday....

Ok, so it's Tuesday. But I meant to write this yesterday but ran out of time. I'll just pretend it's still Monday....
I'm glad it's Monday because that means the funeral is over, the life sketch and musical numbers are over, and the speaking in church is over. This week doesn't seem nearly as daunting as last week did. I guess that's why i chose the picture I did...the rain is past and there is beauty again.
The funeral was beautiful, and although I lost total control over ALL of my emotions during the opening song, my prayers were answered as I felt a blanket of peace envelop me during the opening prayer. i was able to do the life sketch without crying (william says he probably cried more tears than I did) and Lilly (Jill) and I were able to play our Viola's without our hands shaking. My cousin Jake, who is 18 did the closing prayer, and it was probably the most beautiful, eloquent prayer I have ever heard. I realized in an instant that my "little boy cousins"aren't little boys anymore - somehow Jake turned into a man without me even realizing it.
I had to talk in church on Sunday - not William, just me. Totally unfair. My assigned topic was what it means to be converted as a lifetime member of the church. I based my talk around the talk by Elder Oakes - The Challenge To Become. It's a fantastic talk that I highly reccomend to anyone who needs to be converted.
Monday I went back to work, and it was kind of a relief to leave my messy house behind. William didn't have to work, and bless his heart, he cleaned it while I was gone. I'm sorry he puts everyone else to shame at being so wonderful. Work was good, though, and although I hate my job 89% of the time, Monday was one of those 11% good times.
Anyway, I'm glad it's a new week!

Life Sketch
It's been kind of fun to talk to my great aunts about their sister and hear stories from her childhood. I have to share my favorite story so far. She was teaching her sister Nita how to drive, and they had to drive through a grove of trees to get to the house. Their old rooster was in the way, and being young and inexperienced, they didn't know what to do. So they drove right over top of it. All my grandma could do was laugh at the poor dead rooster with it's tail feathers sticking up. That was the end of driving lessons.
Anyway, this has been kind of a hard week for me. My mom is the only daughters, and her brother's don't want too much to do with the details of funeral planning. My mom has said many times that I am a strength to her, so this week i've been helping with funeral planning. It is a sacred feeling to do things for my grandma that she can't do for herself, yet it breaks my heart because I will miss her so very much. I spent large portions of my summers on her farm as a child. As a college student, it was her house I would go to when i needed to get away from it all. She will be greatly missed. I am thankful for my testimony that this life is not the end - that death is merely a doorway into eternal life. I"m thankful for the temple and covenants of eternal marriage. And I'm thankful for the righteous influence one soul can have upon another.

hammers and fingers don't mix
For those of you who don't know, William and I started building our house a couple of weeks ago. We only have a floor so far, but we're getting there. We are doing a "self-help housing" program through Rural Development, in which we are building 9 homes with our future neighbors. We build all the houses together in phases, so we don't work just on our house. Anyway, with that said...you'd all be amazed that Kylie can out hammer one of the boys and several of the girls. I never really considered myself to be talented in building like Will is, but at least I can hammer with one hand and hit the nail more than once every 10 swings. We've been putting in floors for the last couple of weeks, which is ok, but not nearly as much fun as what we did monday and tuesday. This week has been great because we started building walls. They are so much better than floors, maybe because you finally see a verticle change to the house. Yesterday wasn't such a great day for William, though. Someone kicked the top plate he was nailing as he was swinging the hammer, and he ended up hitting his pinkie instead of the nail. It looks awful and painful, so I've included a picture for everyone else to see and sympathize with William.

Getting Started
In a world where everyone else tries to "keep up with the Jones'" I decided that Will and I needed to "keep up with the Mobley's" and start blogging. I mostly quit writing in my journal because I decided my life was too boring to record, so the same thing may happen here. It's a good way to keep in touch, though, and share our random thoughts when there's no one around to voice them to.
So here's a little about us. We were married February 4, 2006 in the Idaho Falls Temple. We've been living in Rexburg since then, but that will change next year. Not only does William graduate from BYU-Idaho, but we are building a house in Rigby that will FINALLY get Kylie out of Rexburg! (I came here 10 years ago to go to a 2 year college....and I haven't been able to leave yet!!)
William and I share many similar interests including music, rock climbing, rappelling, spelunking, watching movies, and taking long walks. We're both hopeless romantics and find joy in the little things.
So here's to some happy blogging....what luck for the rest of the world!
