For those of you who don't know, William and I started building our house a couple of weeks ago. We only have a floor so far, but we're getting there. We are doing a "self-help housing" program through Rural Development, in which we are building 9 homes with our future neighbors. We build all the houses together in phases, so we don't work just on our house. Anyway, with that said...you'd all be amazed that Kylie can out hammer one of the boys and several of the girls. I never really considered myself to be talented in building like Will is, but at least I can hammer with one hand and hit the nail more than once every 10 swings. We've been putting in floors for the last couple of weeks, which is ok, but not nearly as much fun as what we did monday and tuesday. This week has been great because we started building walls. They are so much better than floors, maybe because you finally see a verticle change to the house. Yesterday wasn't such a great day for William, though. Someone kicked the top plate he was nailing as he was swinging the hammer, and he ended up hitting his pinkie instead of the nail. It looks awful and painful, so I've included a picture for everyone else to see and sympathize with William.

hammers and fingers don't mix

Oh, I am sympathizing!! Poor Williams finger! I bet he was trying to act all brave and stoic, like it didn't hurt at all. Yea for building your house. Wish I was there to help swing a hammer. Don't know that I would be as good as Kylie, but I think I could do it one handed . . . maybe.
Sorry for William's finger, but we're all excited for you house. Wish we could help too!
Oh, Kylie, could you send me the right email address for you guys. I somehow can't keep track of it. Ours, (just in case) is jamesaimee@kinfolkonline.net
Thanks!
Ow! Did he make a lot of noise like Stuart does when he gets hurt? Wish we could help build the house, that would be a blast!
Ky...so all I can say is it will probably happen a few more times. Last January Jon went to the ER because he somehow drilled a screw through his finger. Yeah, not the best day of my life!
