Nursery time!

Our project over the last couple of weeks has been to clean out our spare room which has been acting as our storage room since we moved in. It's been quite a job, but it's now relatively empty, except for some very exciting additions - nursery stuff!
In addition to our computer which has to stay there because it's where our internet connection is, we now have a dresser, bookcase, crib, carseat, and my almost finished rocking chair that William made me. He made it for me for Christmas a few years ago, but we haven't ever put the runners on it because we haven't had room. (the seat isn't finished either, but we at least have the foam for it!) We're going to stain it to match our crib, which we assembled last night for FHE. I absolutely love the crib set with it's baby farm animals. You can't really tell from the picture, but each piece is made from a different kind of material....the sheep is fleece, the horse is corduroy, the cow is suede, etc. I'm getting anxious for Emmalee to arrive, but I don't want her here too early....and I'm still pretty nervous to. But at least she'll have an adorable nursery to come home to!

Time's Fun When You're Having Flies

The older I get, the more I understand the truthfulness of the statement that "time flies when you're having fun." I can't believe it was the first week of February when we posted last, and here it is the end of April. It's been a busy couple of months with little time for diversion, but here's a brief update on what we've been up to lately.....school, work, planning for Emmalee, and working on our house!

We've been trying to bank up a plethora of extra hours on our house so that I don't have to go work on the house for a while after we have our baby. This month alone we banked up an additional 18 hours in addition to our required 30 per week. There has been great progress on our house since we posted last. We now have windows, doors, siding, plumbing, furnace vents, a roof, and (hopefully) the mason was supposed to be out today to start brick on our house. It's so wonderful to see the progress and feel like we're getting a little bit closer every week.

I've been learning lots of new skills, and I've decided that I like doing siding, and I like hanging soffit under the eaves of the roof. I can't do any heavy lifting anymore, nor am I supposed to get up high on ladders or scaffolding, so I'm a little limited in what I can do, but I appreciate the opportunities i do get to learn new skills.

We ran out of metal to finish the eaves of our roof and had to leave some open areas at the corners.....the perfect place for a nest. It only took 24 hours for the birds to try to move in and build a nest inside the soffit....we had to remove several pieces of metal to pull out the sticks and weeds that were packed in there. I took a picture because it was a pretty impressive sight.

I realize this is only a small representation of the last several months, but William and I have a crib to set up for Family Home Evening tonight, so the rest will have to wait for another day!
